Kirkland, Wash – The community is invited to attend the annual Lunar New Year Celebration event on Saturday, February 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. Lunar New Year is a cultural event that celebrates the first new moon of the lunar calendar. This event is free and will be held at the Peter Kirk Community Center located at 352 Kirkland Ave, in Kirkland.

“This is such an exciting opportunity for community members to learn about the Lunar New Year celebration, how it is traditionally celebrated, and how members in our community celebrate this day,” said Councilmember Amy Falcone. "We are grateful to have this family-friendly, cultural event in our community and are grateful to the participants and performers who make this such a special day.”

The event will also feature cultural demonstrations and entertainment by the Seattle Chinese Arts Group. Participants can learn what their zodiac animal is and make dragon puppets, origami shapes, and other crafts. Light refreshments will be served.

Everyone is welcome, and we encourage community members to bring their friends and families.

Parking will be limited. Please consider parking in the Peter Kirk Municipal parking lot or use street parking.
