Case/Incident #22-36751
Kirkland Police have launched an investigation after a nighttime burglary suspect was confronted inside a home.
On October 9, 2022, at approximately 3:50 a.m., a suspect entered a Kirkland residence located in the 10600 block of Northeast 45th Street, Kirkland. The suspect entered the home through an unlocked rear sliding door. The home was occupied by two adults and their two young children. The intruder rummaged through the house and staged items to steal. The suspect entered an upstairs bedroom of the residence with a flashlight and approached the mother, who was still in bed. The startled victim called out to her husband who was sleeping in another room. Upon being contacted, the suspect fled the house.
As the suspect was running away from the residence, he fired approximately three shots back into the home. None of the rounds struck the parents or the two young children who were still inside.
Kirkland Police responded to the residence and are trying to identify the suspect(s) and determine what was stolen. One suspect was described as a male between 5’ 6” and 6’ tall, and he may have fled in a light-colored vehicle. Neighbors are being encouraged to review their surveillance systems between 2 and 4 a.m. for possible suspect and vehicle information.
