The City of Kirkland is inviting community members to Bridging Kirkland' between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on July 8 at the brand new Totem Lake Connector bicycle and pedestrian bridge.
Event organizers are expecting hundreds of community members to assemble on the bridge for a once-in-a-generation group photo, to witness the historic ribbon-cutting and enjoy the festivities.
Those festivities include food trucks, a LEGO replica of the Totem Lake Connector, Fire Engine, City informational booths, and a petting zoo.
GETTING THERE: Due to an expectation for strong attendance, event organizers are encouraging participants to arrive by bicycle, foot or transit. There is no on-site parking for the event. The Village at Totem Lake is providing free parking in its Green garage, across from Totem Lake Park on 120th Avenue Northeast. Limited mobility community members should contact Rosalie Wessels at rwessels@kirklandwa.gov for information on drop-off locations and nearby parking. There will be a bicycle valet service provided by Kirkland Greenways, limited to available space. Bus routes 239 and 225 have stops near the bridge.
