Reentry Services at Kirkland City Jail

Program Mission: The mission of the Kirkland City Jail’s reentry program is to maintain a coordinated effort between in-custody and community partners that promotes safe and healthy communities, connecting justice-involved individuals with wrap-around services that support their successful recovery and reintegration.

As a whole, the justice-involved population faces a disproportionate number of barriers in their lives. Many suffer from homelessness, mental and substance use disorders, limited access to technology and transportation, financial hardships due to court obligations and difficulties finding work, and unhealthy social and environmental influences. These barriers decrease an individual's likelihood of success reintegrating into the community and therefore, increase risks to public safety and security.

To improve the cycle of recidivism, the Kirkland City Jail is making strides to provide reentry services to the inmate population. Some of these initiatives include:

  • Dedicated reentry planner who coordinates services for inmates pre- and post-release
  • In-custody mental health services
  • Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program
  • Public transportation passes
  • Facilitation of court-ordered assessments
  • Connection to peers with lived experience
  • Community resource collection and dissemination

As part of our community collaborative, the Reentry Resources page serves as a directory of services available to justice-involved individuals and their families. It includes resources in Seattle, Greater King County, Snohomish County, and Pierce County. For statewide information, call 211 or visit the virtual search database.
