Disability Board (LEOFF I)

LEOFF I is a state retirement system for Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters that was established in March 1970. It was replaced with LEOFF II in October 1977.

In this short video, learn the important work of Kirkland's Disability Board, celebrate a key accomplishment from 2024, and look ahead at what's planned for 2025.

 

The Board is composed of five members:

  • Two Councilmembers appointed by the Mayor
  • One Law Enforcement Officer representative elected by the LEOFF I members within their department
  • One Firefighter representative elected by the LEOFF I members within their department
  • One Citizen-at-Large elected by the Board

The Board generally meets every third Tuesday of every other month at 4:30 PM.  First meeting of the year is held in January.
