Status Update June 26, 2026: You’ve likely seen some initial activity happening, and you’ll soon see many trees on the property removed. This is part of the construction plan, and, per City regulations, the Kraken will provide fee-in-lieu payments for some of the larger trees being removed. This will help support tree canopy restoration elsewhere in Kirkland. No one likes to see trees taken down, but it’s a necessary step to make way for this project. Following tree removal, crews will continue preparing the site for construction, including demolition, drilling for temporary support walls, and excavation for underground stormwater vaults.
