An important message from Parks & Community Services

Update (5/26/2020) -

During their May 19 meeting, the Kirkland City Council approved Resolution 5424 implementing strategies for reopening parks facilities and summer programming that respond to community concerns, human service needs, and public health and safety requirements to slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Resolution 5424 addresses how park amenities and programming would reopen under Governor’s Inslee’s “Safe Start” approach including, special events, community pools, informal and organized athletics, and outdoor amenities such as trails and swim beaches.

Peter Kirk Pool Rainbow

The City of Kirkland Parks and Community Services Department operates seasonal aquatics programs at the Peter Kirk Pool. 


The Peter Kirk Pool shall be closed for the 2020 summer season.  For more information, please visit http://www.kirklandwa.gov/PlayItSafe.  

Aquatic Classes and Programs
Youths and adults can take advantage of many classes and programs, including learn-to-swim lessons, water safety classes, water aerobics, and special interest classes. Programs and classes are available throughout the summer. Please visit the webpage for additional information and registration. 



Kirkland Orcas Swim Team & Craze Summer Swim League
Kirkland Orcas Swim Team & Craze Summer Swim League is celebrating 17 years at the City of Kirkland. The main objective of Craze Summer Swim League is to provide a safe, recreational and competitive experience for area swimmers between the ages of 6 to 18. Guarded Swimming Beaches
The City of Kirkland has three guarded swimming beaches, Houghton, Waverly Beach, and Juanita Beach. Lifeguards will be on duty June 29 - September 7, 2020. Please visit the webpage for additional information on lifeguard on-duty hours and swim test information.
*There will be no beach guards 8/31-9/4 when LWSD is back in session

Kirkland Kids Triathlon will be on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Juanita Beach Park. To register visit: www.kirklandparks.net

Sprinkler Park at Lee Johnson Field  A variety of sprinkler, suitable for all ages, will be set up for everyone to enjoy! Free for all ages.  Thursdays July 9th-August 13th  12-3pm
**Please note temperatures must be above 70 degrees for Sprinkler Park to be open.  Please call out inclement weather hotline at 425-587-3335 for program updates.
