Armed Suspect Shot

Case #2017-43770

Kirkland, WA – On December 19, 2017 at 4:22 p.m., Kirkland Police Officers responded to multiple 911 calls of a disturbance at the Emerson Apartment complex, located in the 11000 block of NE 124th St.

Kirkland Police Officers arrived a few minutes later and confronted a male armed with an assault rifle. During this confrontation, a Kirkland officer shot the suspect. The officers on scene immediately began giving first aid to the injured suspect but were unable to save his life. The involved officer is understandably shaken, but is not injured. There are no additional suspects at large and the area is once again safe for the residents.
As per established protocol and policy, the Kirkland Police Department requested the assistance of the King County Sheriff’s Office. King County Major Crimes Unit arrived on scene and has assumed responsibility of this investigation.
