National Night Out 2019

Turn your porch lights on, come outside and take a stand against crime with your neighbors.

National Night Out

The Kirkland Police Department encourages Kirkland neighborhoods to participate in the 36th annual National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

"National Night Out" is a nationwide campaign aimed at involving communities in crime and drug prevention awareness. Kirkland residents are encouraged to get together with neighbors and friends to plan neighborhood events. Activities that neighborhoods may want to host include cookouts, flashlight walks, community conversations or contests.

Neighborhood groups can register their event with the City by filling out the National Night Out Block Party Permit Application PDF.The application is only needed for events that require road closure. Block party fees will be waived for National Night Out events held on August 6, 2019. Members of City Council and first responders from the Kirkland Police and Fire Departments will be attending community events between 6 and 9 p.m. To coordinate first responder attendance at an event requiring a road closure, contact Special Projects Coordinator Sudie Elkayssi at: selkayssi@kirklandwa.gov.

For block parties held on private property no application is needed. If you would like attendance from first responders at a block party held on private property, contact Neighborhood Resource Officer Deana Lansing at dlansing@kirklandwa.gov for police presence, and Teri Wallace at: twallace@kirklandwa.gov for fire presence. The availability of the City's first responders is contingent on call volume.

No neighborhood event in your area? The Kirkland Police Department is hosting the 2019 National Night Out neighborhood block party, which takes place 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, at the Kirkland Justice Center. The block party is free to attend, and includes a delicious barbecue dinner, activities for kids, police and fire vehicle displays, touch-a-truck, tours of the Kirkland Justice Center and much more! Meet your Kirkland police officers and firefighters, City leadership and Police Chief Cherie Harris.

The Kirkland Justice Center is located at: 11750 NE 118th Street in Kirkland.
