National Night Out

National Night Out

Turn your porch lights on, come outside and take a stand against crime with your neighbors.

National Night Out

Please check back for updates about the City's next National Night Out event!

National Night Out (NNO) is a nationwide campaign meant to enhance relationships between communities and first responders while promoting crime prevention, community building and police-community partnerships. National Night Out provides families with the unique and exciting opportunity to interact with our law enforcement and fire service professionals in a way that is fun, positive, and vastly rewarding. Kirkland residents are encouraged to get together with neighbors and friends to plan neighborhood events, or to stop by the Kirkland Justice Center to celebrate NNO with a free barbecue!

Neighborhood groups can register their event with the City by filling out the National Night Out Block Party Permit Application PDF. The application is only needed for events that require a road closure. Block party fees will be waived for National Night Out events held on National Night Out's designated day. Members of the City Council and first responders from the Kirkland Police and Fire Departments attend community events between 6 and 9 p.m. To coordinate first responder attendance at an event requiring a road closure, contact Special Projects Coordinator Sudie Elkayssi at:

For block parties held on private property no application is needed. If you would like attendance from first responders at a block party held on private property, contact Neighborhood Resource Officer Deana Lansing at for police presence, and Teri Wallace at: for fire presence.

The availability of the City's first responders is contingent on call volume.

No neighborhood event in your area? The Kirkland Police Department hosts its own National Night Out neighborhood block party at the Kirkland Justice Center! The block party is free to attend, and includes a delicious barbecue dinner, activities for kids, police and fire vehicle displays, touch-a-truck, tours of the Kirkland Justice Center and much more! Meet your Kirkland police officers and firefighters, City leadership and Police Chief Cherie Harris.

The Kirkland Justice Center is located at: 11750 NE 118th Street in Kirkland.

Visit the National Night Out website for more information on this amazing event.
