The City Council has allocated funds to provide Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to community organizations that serve Kirkland. Having an AED onsite has proven to drastically increase the survival rate for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest. Public access to AEDs create a vital link in the chain of survival. Public access to AEDs bridge the gap from time of collapse to the arrival of Kirkland Fire Department resources. The City of Kirkland has a limited number of AEDs and will distribute them to qualified organizations until they are gone; this will not be an ongoing program.
