Planning Commission Vacancies

The City of Kirkland is seeking adult volunteer applicants to apply for two seats with terms ending March 31, 2018 on the Planning Commission. One position is filled by an incumbent who may apply for reappointment. The appointments are for four-year terms ending March 31, 2022. Council may also select an alternate appointee in case any additional vacancies were to occur within the immediate six months following the selection and appointment process. The appointments are made by the City Council.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and reside within the city limits of Kirkland.

The Planning Commission regularly meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. The Commission advises the City Council on matters relating from city planning documents to specific texts of land use regulations. It occasionally conducts hearings on certain development proposals and advises the Council on whether those proposals are consistent with the city policies. Planning Commissioners may also need to attend additional evening meetings or community workshops and events as needed and be willing to commit the time to participate on task forces and citizen advisory committees.

For further information about the Planning Commission, contact Eric Shields, Director of Planning and Building Development, at (425) 587-3226 or Applications may be obtained by calling (425) 587-3190, or at the application link below.
