Cultural Arts Commission Adult Vacancies

The City of Kirkland is seeking adult volunteer applicants to fill four vacancies on the Cultural Arts Commission (CAC). Some of these positions are currently filled by incumbents who do intend to apply for reappointment. An alternate appointee may also be selected in case any additional vacancies were to occur within the immediate six months following the selection and appointment process. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
The City Council will make three adult appointments at Position 2, Position 4, and Position 5 for four-year terms ending March 31, 2023.

Applicant qualifications for the CAC include individuals who reside, own a business or work within the City of Kirkland and have an interest in the arts and in the role of public art in the community. The membership of the CAC is intended to reflect balance, taking into account such elements as the diversity of the community and connection to various geographic areas of the City.

The role of the CAC is to advise the City Council on public art acquisitions and loans, review and recommend projects under the City's "one percent for the arts" program, and, after consultation with the City Manager, promote strategic planning and development for arts, culture and heritage in the community, including implementation of projects.  The Cultural Arts Commission meets the third Wednesday of every month from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
