Case/Incident #2020-41494

KIRKLAND, Wash. – At noon today (Sunday, December 27), Kirkland police officers attempted contact with an adult male suspect from a porch theft which occurred on December 26. The officers were at the Motel 6 located at 12010 120th Pl. N.E. as the suspect entered his vehicle along with a female passenger. Officers were at the vehicle and gave commands to the suspect to exit the vehicle. The suspect instead ignored the officers and drove off turning into and striking an officer as he fled. The officer was able to jump out of the way minimizing the impact, and the suspect left headed north onto I-405. Officers pursued the suspect who drove onto S.R. 522 before exiting into Bothell and then continuing into Woodinville. An officer was able to utilize a pursuit immobilization technique (PIT) on the vehicle and it continued a short distance before stopping. The male suspect fled on foot leaving the female in the vehicle. Units from Kirkland, Bothell, and King County searched the area along with a K-9 unit. However, despite their efforts, the male was not located. The male suspect has been identified and has outstanding felony warrants. The male will also face additional charges to include Theft 3rd, Assault 3rd, and Eluding. The female passenger was unhurt, and the officer was treated for a possible leg injury received when he was struck by the suspect’s vehicle.

Kirkland Detectives will continue to investigate the incident and other charges may be pending. Kirkland Police would like to thank our neighboring agencies for their response and assistance in this incident.
