The City of Kirkland will host two virtual open houses on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to share the release of the City’s Draft Surface Water Master Plan. Community members are encouraged to attend to learn about the plan and provide feedback.

Kirkland’s Storm and Surface Water Division works to maintain clean water and healthy stream habitat while reducing neighborhood flooding and maintaining infrastructure. The Surface Water Master Plan is a five to ten-year strategic plan for managing storm and surface water in Kirkland. The plan also evaluates Surface Water Utility rates and revenue to support the projects and programs of the Division.

Kirkland’s Surface Water Master Plan was last updated in 2014 and is being updated to reflect current community, environmental, and infrastructure needs. Building on an initial round of engagement in 2021, the Storm & Surface Water Division is seeking community input on the draft plan before potential adoption by Kirkland City Council this Fall.

RSVP for the online open house, learn more about the draft plan, and provide comments by visiting www.kirklandwa.gov/SWMP. Comments may also be provided by email to stormwater@kirklandwa.gov.
