Kirkland, Wash. – At 11:34 a.m. Sunday, April 18, the Kirkland Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire near 90th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 143rd Street, in the Finn Hill neighborhood.

Other responding agencies included the Woodinville, Northshore and Bothell Fire Departments.

The homeowner evacuated the home without injury. Firefighters immediately went to work putting water on the fire, but their efforts were severely hampered by challenging terrain surrounding the home and a partial structural collapse. Firefighters focused on extinguishing the flames while other firefighters worked proactively to protect the neighboring homes, which sustained minor heat damage.

By 12:46 p.m., the fire was contained. Firefighters remained on scene Sunday afternoon to continue to monitor for hot spots. There were no firefighter injuries.

We are grateful to our neighboring agencies for their help in subduing the flames.

The home is believed to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Kirkland Fire Department.
