One for the books! On Sunday, July 31, for the first time in Kirkland Fire Department history, the engine crew at Fire Station 24 was all women: Acting Officer Megan Keyes, Driver/Operator Keelin Pattillo and Probationary Firefighter Sabi Avcu.

Acting Officer Keyes has been a firefighter for 13 years, operator Pattillo for 5 years, and probationary firefighter Avcu is 7 months in.

It’s not the first time an all-female engine crew has worked together at a fire department in Washington, but it’s the first time at KFD and we are proud to say it won’t be the last time in our region.
