UPDATE 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023

After testing the water quality this week, Public Health – Seattle & King County has recommended that the City reopen the beach at Juanita Beach Park.  City staff have removed the closure signs.

Original Post:

Juanita Beach is temporarily closed, starting Monday, March 13, due to a sewer overflow at I-405/NE 132nd Street.

As a precaution, Public Health – Seattle & King County has recommended the beach remain closed until bacterial levels are within the safe range. The City of Kirkland Storm and Surface Water Division has collected samples and is working with Public Health – Seattle & King County on monitoring the water at Juanita Beach.

People and pets should not swim, drink lake water, or engage in other water activities at Juanita Beach.  Signs are posted indicating that the beach is closed.

Updates about Juanita Beach Park will be posted on the City’s webpage.
