KIRKLAND, Wash. – After a two-week closure due to elevated bacteria levels, Public Health – Seattle & King County has recommended that the City reopen Houghton Beach for swimming, wading and other recreational water activities.

Water quality staff from the King County Water and Land Resources Division tested the water on Tuesday, August 17, and found the waters safe for recreational use. King County crews will return weekly to the beach throughout the summer to take additional samples to ensure that the water is safe. City lifeguards are on-shift from 12 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 19.

For additional details, visit King County’s Lake Swimming Beach Data webpage. While the video focuses on Juanita Beach, it applies to other King County swimming beaches as well.
