Shredding, Styrofoam and Mattress Recycling

This recycling event is open to Kirkland residents. Recycle StyrofoamTM and mattresses (pass-through charge) and shredding (no charge).

Cash only for all fees. Please bring exact change.

What You Can Bring

Shredding (free)

FEE: $0

LIMIT: 4 file-size (12"x12"x16") boxes or equivalent quantity per vehicle

Shredding and recycling of confidential paper materials. Staples OK. No binder clips.

All shredding completed on site, the day of the event, by Confidential Data Disposal.

Block StyrofoamTM (pass-through charge)

White expanded polystyrene (StyrofoamTM) blocks only. All items must be clean and dry.

No trailers.

NOT ACCEPTED: colored StyrofoamTM, foam meat trays, foam takeout clamshells, packing peanuts, urethane foam cushions, hot tub covers, expanded polypropylene or foam insulation. Dispose as trash.

Mattresses (pass-through charge)

FEE: $15 per mattress and $15 per box spring - cash only

Mattresses and box springs only, any size. All items must be clean and dry. Please cover in the event of rain.

NOT ACCEPTED: Futons, wet or soiled items, furniture, frames. Vendor reserves the right to refuse any item deemed unacceptable or unrecyclable.

About This Event

Kirkland’s Recycling Collection Event allows residents to dispose of recyclable items that are not accepted through recycling collection service or product stewardship programs. Some material may be disposed of as garbage if not in recyclable condition. Funding provided by King County Solid Waste Division.
