The City is seeking feedback on the Summer Sundays pilot. Please provide your input via a short survey at https://www.research.net/r/parklane-sundays. The survey will remain open through January 31. The City Council will be discussing next steps for this pilot project at a future meeting.
Join us at Summer Sundays on Park Lane starting Sunday, June 2! Opening Park Lane to people walking or biking only was inspired by residents hoping to create an atmosphere where community members could gather, shop, stroll, and dine in a casual car-free environment. During Summer Sundays, Park Lane will be closed to vehicles from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. We invite you to grab your family and friends and come down and enjoy the charming ambience of a Summer Sunday.
Summer Sundays is a pilot project between the City of Kirkland, community members, and neighborhood associations to provide accessibility, mobility and a strong sense of place for people while enhancing the volume of shopping and other business activities. The pilot will run from June 2 to September 22.
Park Lane is located in Downtown Kirkland between Lake Street and 3rd Street. Known as an “American woonerf” – which loosely translates to “living street” – Park Lane is a charming thruway that invites pedestrian exploration day and night.
In the spirit of the event, we encourage you to walk, bike, carpool, or take transit. Bus routes 255, 248, 235, and 234 will bring you right to the entrance of Park Lane on 3rd Street.
All city-owned parking is free on Sundays including street parking, the Peter Kirk Municipal Garage that is located under the library, the Wester Lot on 3rd Avenue, Marina Park, the Lake & Central lot, and at City Hall.
Pay parking lots are located throughout downtown, including the Voda Parking garage on Main St. at Park Lane. All lots can be found on our public parking map (PDF 1.6mb).
ADA parking spots are available at multiple locations downtown. See the public parking map (PDF - 1.6mb) for specifics.
Public restrooms are available at Marina Park, Peter Kirk Park and in the Kirkland Library on 3rd Street.
Summer Sundays will be evolving throughout the summer. We anticipate that there may be music, art, and activities as the event organically develops. Stay tuned for more details!
