KIRKLAND, Wash. – Beginning this week, a segment of Kirkland Way will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, until mid-September. The closure, which extends from Sixth Street to Peter Kirk Park, is the third phase of the City’s 2017 Water System Improvement Project

“Investing in our community’s infrastructure plays a vital role in protecting the quality of life that Kirkland residents and businesses experience,” said Councilmember Jon Pascal, Chair of the Public Works, Parks and Human Services Council Committee. “Projects like this ensure the City can provide the clean and clear water that we all depend on.”

During construction hours, the contractor will provide access to residents, workers in nearby buildings, their customers, as well as mail and emergency services.

The work along Kirkland Way will replace a 40-year-old water main pipe with a new and larger pipe. This is the third of three phases in the Water System Improvement Project, the first two of which occurred along Third and Fourth Street in the Norkirk neighborhood during the past few months.

“All the capital improvement projects occurring throughout the City this summer continue our commitment to a safe, healthy and vibrant community,” Pascal said.
