The Community Van program provides 6-passenger and 12-passenger vans for pre-scheduled rides -- either one-time or recurring -- involving a minimum of two passengers plus a volunteer driver. Trip destinations can be anywhere within a two-hour drive of Kirkland and can occur during the daytime, evenings, and weekends. This is a way for community members to plan customized trips when bus service can't meet their needs. Take advantage of Community Van for trips to the airport, appointments, errands, and outings! Also please consider signing up to be a volunteer driver.

Request a trip a minimum of 4 business days in advance if you are requesting to be driven by a volunteer driver (their availability and willingness is not guaranteed) or 2 days in advance if you are providing your own approved Community Van driver. We can sometimes accommodate last-minute requests.
Valid trips using vehicles in the Kirkland-Kenmore Community Van program must have a passenger pickup location (trip origin) and/or a passenger drop-off location (trip destination) that is within the boundaries of the cities of Kirkland or Kenmore. For other cities that are also operating Community Van programs, see King County's Community Van webpage.
Our two 6-passenger minivans are wheelchair accessible. Our 12-passenger van does not accommodate a wheelchair.

3. Use a King County Human Services bus ticket.
You do not have to be a resident of Kenmore or Kirkland to become an approved driver of the vehicles in the Kenmore-Kirkland Community Van program. Each time you use one of the vehicles, however, it needs to be for the purpose of transporting passengers to, from, or within Kenmore or Kirkland. King County Metro operates the Community Van program in certain other cities too.
You cannot use the vehicle for an overnight trip. In other words, the vehicle cannot be parked overnight anywhere other than its official staging location. If your approved use of the vehicle requires you to return it to its staging location past midnight, that is a different matter and is acceptable.
