In support of the City Council's "Dependable Infrastructure" goal, the NE 142nd Street Drainage Improvements project replaces collapsed and failed storm system infrastructure, adds system conveyance capacity, reconfigures the storm system creek outfall, stabilizes stream banks, and improves maintenance access to storm system assets and creek bed.
The project included property acquisition for system access and maintenance and improves system conveyance, reduces flooding and stream erosion, and improves the ability to maintain the infrastructure. During moderate rain events, the existing storm system is unable to discharge peak runoff volumes, and surface water pools near the intersection of NE 142nd Street and 77th Avenue NE creating a hazard for people trying to walk or drive through the intersection. This location collects and conveys to the section of Denny Creek located on the Inglewood Presbyterian Church property approximately 27 acres of surrounding residential development.
