Kirkland's effort to improve emergency response throughout the city continues with the relocation of Fire Station 27 to the eastside of Interstate 405. To respond more efficiently to Kingsgate and Totem Lake, the City is moving Fire Station 27 to the corner of Northeast 132nd Street and 121st Way Northeast, where a medical building currently exists.

Project engineers expect to begin removing that building in spring 2022 and to complete construction on the new 16,000 square-foot fire station by summer 2023.

The new, two-story station will feature three and-a-half bays, eight sleeping rooms, dedicated space for decontamination, bunker gear, basic life support and supply storage.

King County is partnering with the City of Kirkland to pay $50,000 for the half engine bay. In return, its Medic One division will have the right to use that half engine bay for service. The partnership allows Medic 123 to operate out of a Kirkland fire station for the first time in 10 years.

Fire Station 27 is one of five fire stations Kirkland's residents voted to renovate, relocate or build to ensure the City's emergency response maintains pace with growth within the city and the region.
