Kirkland's effort to improve emergency response throughout the city continues with the renovation of Fire Station 22, which serves Kirkland's southern communities, including Central Houghton, Everest and Lakeview.
Kirkland's project engineers expect construction to begin spring 2022 and to be complete by summer 2023.
The renovation will add 2,336 square-feet to the 9,249 square-foot facility. That extra space will help Fire Station 22 accommodate eight emergency responders, three fire engines, decontamination rooms, bunker gear storage and other functions that are essential to state-of-the-art fire stations.
Fire Station 22 is one of five fire stations Kirkland's residents voted to renovate, relocate or build to ensure the City's emergency response maintains pace with growth within the city and the region.
