The City of Kirkland expects construction to begin on the replacement of the watermain along 126th Avenue Northeast from NE 70th Street to NE 80th Street this winter.  

The project replaces approximately 2,600 linear feet of aged watermain piping with 8-inch ductile iron piping and adds new fire hydrants for improved access and system redundancy and reliability.  The project is expected to reduce future maintenance costs, and supports the Council goal of dependable infrastructure.

Updates

(April 6) --Work on this project is nearly complete.

(Jan. 27) -- The contractor will be working two crews on the site, between NE 70th Street and NE 80th Street.  Local access for residents will remain during the road closure.

(Dec. 9) -- The notice to proceed for this project will be issued shortly, with construction beginning soon after.  This website will be updated when we know the date construction will begin.  Project updates have been mailed to residents and should arrive by 12/12.  

(Dec 8)  -- Construction is expected to begin on this project on Monday, December 12.  The contractor expects to begin near NE 80th Street, and work south.  Sections of the street will be closed during construction. 

(Oct, 2022) -- The construction contract is expected to be awarded by Kirkland City Council at their October 18, 2022 meeting.
