Building community trust is an important part of what makes the Kirkland Police Department a success. Transparency is one of the driving factors in gaining the trust of the communities we serve, and the creation of a dashboard that shows use of force data was one transparency strategy called for in Kirkland’s Resolution R-5434. Additionally, we have contracted with Police Strategies LLC to conduct an extensive analysis of KPD's use of force incidents occurring in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Our intent is that this analysis will be updated annually.
