Kirkland Police Use of Force Dashboard

Building community trust is an important part of what makes the Kirkland Police Department a success.  Transparency is one of the driving factors in gaining the trust of the communities we serve, and the creation of a dashboard that shows use of force data was one transparency strategy called for in Kirkland’s Resolution R-5434.  Additionally, we have contracted with Police Strategies LLC to conduct an extensive analysis of KPD's use of force incidents occurring in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Our intent is that this analysis will be updated annually.

We will be improving the interactive dashboard with on-going community input.

There are four buttons at the top of the dashboard:

  • Dashboard Instructions
  • Day, Time & Location Of Use Of Force Incidents
  • Subjects Characteristics & Crimes Charged
  • Use of Force Tactics, Restraints, & Injury Rates

By clicking on any of the elements of the dashboard, the remaining charts, graphs, and maps will be changed to match that element.
