The City of Kirkland contracts with the Everett Animal Shelter (EAS) for the sheltering and care of the City’s stray animals.

When a lost/stray pet is found in Kirkland, the City’s Animal Control Officer will use the pet’s license tag information or traceable identification to attempt to reunite the pet with its owner. If there is no traceable form of identification for the pet, or if the owner can’t be contacted directly, then that animal will be transferred to the Everett Animal Shelter.

The Everett Animal Shelter holds stray animals for 72 hours to allow owners time to find their lost pet. Owners who go to the shelter to claim their lost pet must provide proof of ownership at the time of redemption. There are fees associated with reclaiming a pet.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Everett Animal Shelter is committed to keeping the community safe. At this time, that means restricting general admission to the shelter, which will also help staff and volunteers remain healthy so that they can continue to care for the animals. If you think your lost pet may be at the shelter, please check the Lost and Found Pets website and call 425-257-6000. Animal shelter staff will return your call as soon as they are able.
