Project Description

In 2019-2020, the City of Kirkland Planning and Building Department, in coordination with the neighborhood associations in each area, is tasked with updating the Market, Norkirk and Highlands Neighborhood Plans and Market Street Corridor Plan. The purpose of a neighborhood plan is to establish a vision for each neighborhood over the next 8-10 years in context with the citywide goals and policies in the Comprehensive Plan. To view the existing neighborhood and corridor plans in Chapter 15 of the Comprehensive Plan click here.  

Upcoming meetings

  • December 8, 2020: City Council final decision on draft plans

The public involvement process for all Plans are being consolidated into one process to hear what people would like to see revised in their neighborhood plans. A joint Working Group was formed of representatives from each neighborhood association. Here's the Working Group roster(PDF, 63KB) for who is involved. Planning Commission held study sessions and a public hearing before making a recommendation to approve each plan to City Council for final decision. Public Involvement Activities

January 2019-2020 City staff and neighborhoods engaged in a number of public engagement activities to solicit input on how the neighborhood plans should be revised to reflect the neighborhood's vision statement and policies for future growth of each neighborhood.
