Neighborhood Block Party

Block parties provide opportunities to connect with neighbors, celebrate, work on common projects, and strengthen community relationships.

A permit is required for neighborhood activities that temporarily close a street. Yes, even if it's a cul-de-sac.

Two types of permits are available.

Neighborhood Block Party

Neighborhood block parties are held and attended by people living along the street, they are not intended to be publicized or open to the general public.

To apply for a Neighborhood Block Party Permit, follow these steps:

Prepare the required documentation:

Step 3.Complete the application

Once your supporting documents are in order, you can complete the application. Applications, including the application fee, must be received no later than 2 weeks prior to the event. 

Complete the Neighborhood Block Party Permit Application

Step 4.Pay the application fee

The non-refundable $35.00 Application Fee can be mailed or hand-delivered to:

Step 5.We will contact you

Once the application and fee are received your request will be reviewed by representatives of the police, fire, and public works departments. You can expect to receive a response within 10 business days.

National Night Out Block Party

National Night Out takes place the first Tuesday in August each year. The City of Kirkland publicizes the location of National Night Out Block Parties and encourages the general public to attend an event near them. Applicants who don’t want their event publicized should instead apply for a Neighborhood Block Party Permit.
