Volunteer with Us!

Welcome Volunteers!

Green Kirkland volunteer stewardship events led by volunteer Stewards and Staff are happening at a park near you during 2022!

Opportunities to volunteer will be posted on our calendar as they become available.

Green Kirkland stewardship events follow a City of Kirkland approved COVID-19 safety plan.

COVID-19 safety guidelines summary (beginning March 12, 2022):

  • Face coverings are optional at outdoor Green Kirkland stewardship events. We welcome and encourage volunteers to bring and wear a face covering, especially at times when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Pre-registration is requested from participants.
  • Please stay home if you do not feel well or have any Covid or flu-like symptoms.

Visit our What to Expect page for more details of current safety guidelines.

Summer Volunteer Watering with Green Kirkland Partnership

The Green Kirkland Partnership needs your help this summer with volunteer watering to nurture baby native plants in the natural forested areas of Kirkland’s parks. This is a great opportunity to spend time in the cool and serene forest while helping your local park!

Volunteers in this role commit to serving 1 -2 hours per week, during most weeks June through August on their own time and schedule. Volunteers age 18 and over can serve solo while volunteers age 14-18 need to serve in teams (you bring your buddy). Volunteers under age 14 will need to serve alongside a parent/guardian.

Volunteer should be comfortable carrying water cans or hoses off-trail over uneven terrain to water baby trees in our forests. A brief orientation and service agreement are required for this fun summer volunteer role.

Contact us via email for more details if you are interested in this ongoing volunteer commitment:

Your Forests Need YOU: Become a Green Kirkland Steward!

The next New Steward Orientation will be offered in Fall 2022. Training is a three part hybrid online and in-person training.

Share your love of natural spaces and your park with the world by becoming a Green Kirkland Steward.

Stewards are dedicated volunteers who share their joy by leading volunteers in restoration projects in their local parks. Stewards bring a diversity of interests, skill, and time to our parks - we encourage all that are interested to attend orientation.

Stewards receive training, resources such as plants and tools, and access to restoration professionals to help you succeed.

City of Kirkland Local Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the Southern Salish Sea region lies on the unceded and ancestral land of the Coast Salish peoples, the Duwamish, Muckleshoot, Puyallup, Skykomish, Snoqualmie, Snohomish, Suquamish and Tulalip tribes and other tribes of the Puget Sound Salish people, and that present-day City of Kirkland is in the traditional heartland of the Lake People and the River People. We honor with gratitude the land itself, the First People – who have reserved treaty rights and continue to live here since time immemorial – and their ancestral heritage.

We encourage you to visit the Land Acknowledgement page for more information.
