All current employment opportunities, aside from the Public Safety positions noted below, can be found on NeoGov

Applications for Firefighters, Police Officers, Corrections Officers, and Dispatchers are accepted at PublicSafetyTesting.com where you can complete an online application and select a testing date for written and physical ability examinations.

Application Process
The entire process - application submission, screening, testing, interviewing, reference and background checking - takes time. In general, you can expect a turnaround time of approximately 4 to 5 weeks.

Testing
Many, but not all, positions require job-related testing prior to conducting interviews. If you are invited to test, we will contact you by phone or email and provide you with the test details.

Interviewing
If you are selected to interview, we will contact you by phone or email.

Background Screening
Pursuant to RCW 10.97, all finalists for positions are required to complete an authorization for the City of Kirkland to conduct a criminal history check. This may include additional fingerprint-based checks, if deemed necessary, to obtain the appropriate clearance for the position for which you are applying.Note: A conviction record will not necessarily disqualify you for employment unless such a record would reasonably affect your fitness for the job for which you have applied.
