Apply for a Development Permit

The 2021 Construction and Fire Codes adoption has been extended and will go into effect on March 15, 2024. All permit applications submitted after March 15, 2024 must comply with the 2021 codes; complete applications received on or before March 14th will be vested to the 2018 codes.

Apply for a Permit

Permits must be applied for online, through MyBuildingPermit.com, the one-stop online portal for development service applications, inspection scheduling, permit status information, construction tip sheets and inspection checklists. Once there, you will be guided through the application process.

During business hours, permits can be applied for online at one of the self-service computers located in the Development Services Center at City Hall. There, permit technicians are available to provide assistance with the application process.

Contractors

Contractors that perform work or provide services at a job site located within the City of Kirkland are required to have a valid City of Kirkland Business License.
