Project Description
Construction of a new 180,000 sq. ft. two story office building on the former PACE Chemical Company site for Google. Parking is proposed in a two story parking structure (720 stalls) beneath the office building. Google currently occupies several office buildings east of the subject property at 747, 777, and 787 6th Street South.

What is happening on the Corridor with the Google expansion project?
The property owner where Google is located, SRM Development, has submitted plans to make the Cross Kirkland Corridor Master Plan become a reality between the two Google campuses. The plans for these public amenities include a 16-foot wide hard surface trail, a meandering secondary trail, a basketball court, resting and gathering spots, trees, beach dunes with a volleyball court, and a children's play structure (PDF 1 mb).

Process/Project Timeline
  • October 29, 2012 - Public Works issued a notice that the project passed the City's road concurrency test. All projects subject to SEPA are also required a road concurrency test.
  • April 16, 2013 - May 10, 2013 - SEPA early public comment period.
  • July 15, 2013 - As of this date, the following permits have been submitted:
    • Grading permit - File No. LSM13-02954
    • Building permit - File No. BNR13-03493
    • Shoring permit - File No. BNR13-02680

  • August 6, 2013 - The City Council passed a resolution authorizing the City Manager to sign an agreement allowing SRMK II LLC an easement to cross the Cross Kirkland Corridor (background info).
  • September 19, 2013 - SEPA Determination issued for new office building. See information to the right.
  • November 4, 2013 - Grading permit issued
  • November 15, 2013 - Shoring permit issued
  • January 23, 2014 - Building permit issued
  • June 27, 2014 - Building permit submitted for pedestrian bridge over portion of the Cross Kirkland Corridor (BNR14-03425)
  • July 9, 2014 - Grading permit (LSM14-03988) and SEPA Checklist (SEP14-01380) for Cross Kirkland Corridor improvements submitted to the City for review.
  • October 14, 2014 - SEPA Determination issued for Cross Kirkland Corridor improvements
