CFL bulbs and tubes contain mercury and should not be placed in the trash. Multi-family residents in Kirkland can recycle CFL bulbs and tubes through the new LightRecycle Washington program and King County’s Take It Back Network.
LightRecycle, a new statewide collection program, allows residents and businesses to recycle CFLs and other fluorescent lightbulbs for free. Drop up to 10 CFL bulbs daily at Kirkland City Hall, any Bartell Drugs, or the Bridle Trails Ace Hardware, as well as collection sites throughout the state.
Fluorescent tube lights are also accepted at the Bridle Trails Ace Hardware. You can also recycle fluorescent tubes at Take It Back Network collection sites, the Factoria Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site, or Kirkland’s bi-annual Recycling Collection Event. Fees may apply.
