The New Kirkland Transit Center opened February 26, 2011.

Project Overview
Sound Transit built a new transit center in downtown Kirkland, replacing the existing 22-year-old facility. This important transportation project improves local and express bus service to the heart of downtown.

The Kirkland Transit Center makes it easier for people to use transit to get to some of Kirkland's key destinations -- the pool and fields of Peter Kirk Park, the Kirkland Performance Center, as well as the new expanded Kirkland Library. A new park trellis serves as a gateway to the park. New trees, landscaping and a pedestrian-friendly design welcomes riders into Kirkland, just a few blocks from the marina and downtown shipping.

Public Art
Artist Carolyn Law is creating a "Social Intricacy/The Beach" within the new transit center. Large granite blocks will line the stairs creating another outdoor resting place along the path of Peter Kirk Park and the new Kirkland Library.

Working Together
Sound Transit is coordinating with the City of Kirkland, King County Wastewater Treatment Division and King County Library System.
