Water System Improvement Project

Project Overview: City Contractor Shoreline Construction Company will construct two watermain projects, providing a combined total of 1,640 lineal feet of new 4-inch and 8-inch ductile iron pipe -- one in the South Juanita Neighborhood and another in the South Rose Hill/Bridle Trails Neighborhood (see project area map).
Where:
- In the South Juanita Neighborhood: the Watermain Project replaces an aging cement pipe with a new iron pipe along NE 109th Street and NE 108th Street, between 104th Avenue NE and 106th Avenue NE.
- In the South Rose Hill/Bridle Trails Neighborhood: the Watermain Project will replace an aging watermain that experienced a significant failure within 120th Avenue NE. The project limits will be along 120th Avenue NE from 70th Street going south to a point 50 feet beyond the cul-de-sac.
When: Construction will begin in both areas Monday, March 4 and with an accelerated schedule anticipated completion in May 2013.
What to Expect: Typical hours of construction will be 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the exception of work on NE 70th Street where work will be limited to 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Expect restricted parking along the roadway. No-parking signs will be posted 24 hours in advance of all parking restrictions. During construction, there may be inconvenience associated with driving through the work zone; traffic control and flagging operations will be in effect. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the construction process. The contractor is required to back fill and/or cover their work at the end of each day so there will be no open trenches left over night. Businesses and residents will be given two days notice prior to any planned water system shutdowns.
