Assignments
The Kirkland Police Department has exciting opportunities and specialty assignments available. Some of these assignments require specialized training and provide officers with a wide variety of situations and problems that require enforcement and creative problem solving.

Kirkland Police Recruiting
Kirkland, incorporated in 1905, is on the northeastern shores of Lake Washington, with stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and the Seattle skyline. With Bellevue, Redmond, and Seattle just minutes away, Kirkland provides easy access to urban areas while still maintaining a suburban feel. Kirkland has a population of approximately 81,000 and is the 12th largest city in Washington. Kirkland covers 18 square miles and has nearly 10 miles of shoreline. Kirkland provides an excellent family atmosphere with waterfront parks, top school district, and several community colleges and universities within easy commuting distance.
Police
 The Kirkland Police Department maintains the highest standards of law enforcement training, procedures and practices. It is a state accredited agency. There are currently 97 commissioned officers and 36 civilian support personnel. The Department is currently at full strength, with intermittent openings due to attrition. The Department is committed to community policing. This policing style requires a police/community partnership and collaboration.
