Officer Steve Oskierko tells us why a Lateral Transfer to Kirkland is one of the best choices he ever made
Kirkland, incorporated in 1905, is on the northeastern shores of Lake Washington, with stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and the Seattle skyline. With Bellevue, Redmond, and Seattle just minutes away, Kirkland provides easy access to urban areas while still maintaining a suburban feel. Kirkland has a population of approximately 87,281 and is the 12th largest city in Washington. Kirkland covers approximately 18 square miles and has nearly 10 miles of shoreline. Kirkland provides an excellent family atmosphere with waterfront parks, top school district, and several community colleges and universities within easy commuting distance.
The Kirkland Police Department maintains the highest standards of law enforcement training, procedures and practices. It is a state accredited agency. There are currently 100 commissioned officers and 38 civilian support personnel. The Department is currently hiring entry and lateral officers. As a Department committed to community policing, our policing style requires a police/community partnership and collaboration.
