Safety / Risk Management Coordinator: Kathy Joyner
Insurance Coverage:
The City of Kirkland is a member of the Washington Cities Insurance Authority (WCIA) which is a self-insured pool of about 100 municipal corporations in the State of Washington. This coverage provides for liability, property, and vehicle losses.
Safe Work Environment:
The personal safety and health of every employee is of primary importance to the
City of Kirkland. The prevention of work-related injuries and illness is a high priority.
Safety Committee:
The City of Kirkland Safety Committee is comprised of elected and appointed members. The Committee serves as a vital communication link in the City’s Safety Program by providing a forum for the discussion of ideas, suggestions, and concerns regarding employee safety.
Claims:
We handle two types of claims:
• Worker compensation Claims - Employees who are injured on the job or contract an occupational disease, are eligible for benefits such as paid medical care and wage replacement provided through the Washington State Fund.
• Claims for Damages: Claimant seeks restitution from the City for alleged
personal losses.
