The City of Kirkland has six (6) Unions with the following bargaining union contracts:

• AFSCME; Professional and clerical
• Teamsters; Grounds, maintenance, and mechanical

A Labor/Management Committee or Employee Relations Committe, meet to discuss management issues, policies, budget impacts, and concerns.

Civil Service
Police Officers and Firefighters are hired under the authority of the Civil Service Commission.

This Commission ensures that these Public Safety employees are hired on the basis of merit, and disciplined/terminated for cause.
