RESIDENTIAL ENERGY FORMS
If your project includes any addition or alteration of the exterior building envelope (exterior walls, windows, doors, roof, floors), you will need to submit Residential Energy forms with your application. You can do that one of two ways:
Prescriptive Residential Energy Form for ZONE 1 (Kirkland is in Zone 1).
Component Energy Form.
For more information see the Washington State University Energy Program
Energy Code Resources. These forms are available on through this program.
VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS - see chapter M1507 of the International Residential Code for:
Intermittent Whole House Ventilation using Exhaust Fans
Intermittent Whole House Ventilation integrated with Forced Air System
Equipment sizing for space heating and space cooling systems
.
WSU Extension Energy Program has developed code compliance spread sheets for prescriptive energy code compliance (WSEC chapter 6), and a component performance code compliance (WSEC chapter 5). Both of these worksheets have a simple heating system sizing method attached. For heat pumps and air conditioners, approved engineering is required, such as Manual J available from ACCA.org
For prescriptive heating and cooling options, see
the City of Kirkland interpretation.RELATED CONSTRUCTION GUIDES, TIP SHEETS, EXPRESS AND FAST TRACK REVIEW APPLICATIONS
