Will my address change to Kirkland WA 98034 if I live in the annexation area and have had a Bothell or Woodinville address?
Yes. According to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), any City, State and ZIP Code changes are implemented every July 1st. For this annexation, USPS advises it will make this change to your ZIP Code and City to Kirkland, WA 98034 to become effective July 1, 2011. Residents will be notified when USPS changes the City name and ZIP Code. Please do not change your mailing address until you are notified.
Should I file a Change of Address with the Postal Service when I change to Kirkland?
Do not file a Change of Address with the Postal Service unless you are moving to a different home or building. A Change of Address is not necessary when a new address is assigned to your existing home or building. The U. S. Postal Service automatically notifies all parties when the City and ZIP Code is changed in an address.
Will the Post Office forward my mail?
Yes. For annexation residents, the Postal Service will provide for the forwarding of your mail up to 12 months following the July 1 City and Zip Code change. After 12 months the Postal Service will return your mail to sender with an endorsement that will include your new mailing address for another 6 months.
