The City of Kirkland is seeking youth volunteer applicants to apply for one youth-specific seat for a two year term ending March 31, 2018 on the Transportation Commission. The position is filled by an incumbent who may apply for re-appointment. The appointment is for a two-year term ending March 31, 2020. Council may also select an alternate appointee in case a youth vacancy were to occur within the immediate six months following the selection and appointment process. This appointment will be made by the City Council. Applicants for this seat must have attained the grade level of sophomore or Junior by September of the year of appointment, be under the age of eighteen, and reside within the City of Kirkland.
The role of the Transportation Commission is to advise the City Council regarding planning and development of those transportation issues referred to them by the City Council. The Commission also submits to the City Council, through the City Manager, recommendations for such other transportation issues of interest to the Commission, or associated with Council-directed items, as the Commission feels is advisable. The Transportation Commission meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
