Planning Commission Vacancies
The City of Kirkland is seeking adult volunteer applicants to fill two vacancies* on the Kirkland Planning Commission. The appointments are for four-year terms ending March 31, 2016, and are made by the City Council. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and reside within the city limits of Kirkland.
The Planning Commission regularly meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. It advises the City Council on matters relating from city planning documents to specific texts of land use regulations. It occasionally conducts hearings on certain development proposals and advises the Council on whether those proposals are consistent with the city policies. Planning Commissioners may also need to attend additional evening meetings or community workshops and events as needed and be willing to commit the time to participate on task forces and citizen advisory committees.

In 2011 the City Council adopted a Code of Conduct which all Board and Commission members are asked to sign.
Planning Commission applications must be submitted to the City Clerk by 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012.
* The incumbent for this position has served one term and may complete an application to be considered for re-appointment.
