Monthly Update – June 2014
June 12, 2014
Welcome to the June update on the Cross Kirkland Corridor. We’ve got exciting news about the Master Plan and Interim Trail!
CKC Master Plan: Schedule for adoption June 17
The City Council gave some final direction on the CKC Master Plan at its May 20, 2014 meeting
(PDF) and the plan is scheduled to be adopted on June 17, 2014. Feel free to address the Council during the public comment period held at the beginning of the meeting. Updates have been made to the draft plan and are available here.
Thank you to all who contributed ideas that helped with the development of the Master Plan. Once adopted, we look forward to implementing the exciting elements of the Plan.
Brown Bag Series to join a Tour the Corridor June 18, 11:30 am-1:30 pm
City Manager Kurt Triplett would like to invite you on a tour of the Corridor on Wednesday, June 18, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The purpose of the tour is to catch the highlights of the CKC from the south to the north. We will be looking at where the planned/funded pedestrian bridge will link the South Kirkland Park and Ride to the Corridor, stop at the Houghton Porch to catch the views, preview the Google expansion (SRM Development) site with schematic drawings, hear the City’s vision for the Par Mac Business District, see where the pedestrian bridge is envisioned at NE 124th Street and 124th Avenue NE and then finish at possible connections to the Redmond Central Connector at the end of Kirkland’s line. Members of the Kirkland Alliance of Neighborhoods (KAN)
will be a part of the tour. If you are interested, please contact Kari Page at firstname.lastname@example.org
or call 425-587-3011 as soon as possible as limited seating is available on the van.
Interim Trail Construction: Kick-Off Event June 28
On June 3, 2014, the City Council awarded the construction bid for the Interim Trail
to Rodarte Construction, Inc. (Auburn, WA). To celebrate, you are invited to join Kirkland City Council, Senator Andy Hill, King County Council Member Jane Hague and others to a “groundbreaking” event. Meet on the Corridor adjacent to the South Kirkland Park & Ride (3677 108th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA) from 10 am – 12 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
Information on the construction plans for the Interim Trail will be available. The project is expected to take 100 working days (weather permitting) and we look forward to the finished interim trail. View construction map.
