KIRKLAND, Wash. – The City of Kirkland and 12 other Kirkland businesses are among King County’s 112 “Best Workplaces for Waste Prevention and Recycling for 2015.” In the annual list, released July 15th, King County commended organizations from an array of sectors, including education, engineering, finance, food, hospitality, government, utilities, medical, real estate, retail, technology and transportation. This is the ninth consecutive year King County has honored businesses for their efforts in waste reduction and recycling. King County honored the following Kirkland organizations:
BladeGallery’s Epicurean Edge
Chameleon Technologies, Inc.
CHOICE Insurance LLC
City of Kirkland
Eastside Community Aid Thrift Shop
Neil Levinson Enterprises
Twelve Baskets Catering
Some of the City’s recycling efforts include offering Styrofest, a monthly plastic foam recycling collection event for Kirkland residents and businesses; providing drop-off points for hazardous recyclables such as CFLs, batteries, and cell phones; and coordinating a paper towel composting program for City Hall restrooms.
