KIRKLAND, Washington—The Kirkland Parks Foundation has successfully raised $3,850 from the community to fund the purchase of a pet-friendly drinking fountain for David E. Brink Park. The fountain will be installed this spring.
“The addition of the pet-friendly drinking fountain will give people walking their pets along the waterfront a convenient place to get a drink,” said Sally Otten, Executive Director, Kirkland Parks Foundation. “Many people walk with their pets along the Lake Washington Boulevard, and the fountain will be a great addition to the area.”
The fundraising project was generously sponsored by the Juanita Bay Veterinary Hospital. A plaque will be installed on the fountain recognizing the donors who gave $500 or more to the project.
“We were glad to be involved as a key sponsor on this project”, said Judi Clark, Manager, Juanita Bay Veterinary Hospital. “We feel strongly that the fountain will be wonderful asset to the community as it will be located in an area that is used on a regular basis.”
This is the fifth project the Kirkland Parks Foundation has funded since they began operations in April of 2015, and they are excited to continue to crowd-fund more projects in the community. Previous projects have included a picnic shelter at Waverly Beach, fresh sand for the beach at Marina Park, a learning garden at McAuliffe Park, and native plants that were planted as part of Green Kirkland Day.
The Kirkland Parks Foundation depends on the community of Kirkland to come up with project ideas in parks and to fundraise around those ideas. If you have a great idea, you can suggest a project through the KPF website: https://www.kirklandparksfoundation.org/contact.
