KIRKLAND, Wash. – Kirkland’s annual Arbor Day Celebration and forest restoration event will take place at O.O. Denny Park on Saturday, October 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers are invited to support Green Kirkland Partnership stewardship efforts to plant native trees, shrubs and ground covers, and remove aggressive invasive plants. Free pizza will be provided for all volunteers during the lunch break courtesy of Otak Inc., an award-winning engineering, urban design, architecture and planning firm.
At 12:30 p.m., join Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen, City Council members, Washington State Department of Natural Resources’ Linden Lampman and Kirkland Urban Forester Deb Powers in a celebratory Arbor Day tree planting. Following the ceremonial planting, forest restoration efforts will resume until 2 p.m.
